Can I pick and choose?
In essence you can be as fussy as you like and we will not waste your time by sending you candidates who we know
are not suitable for your role. However because we are funded by Jobcentre Plus and the European Social Fund, we can
only send you people that have been referred to us. This could be once month or once a year depending on the industry
and geographic location. It is unlikely that we will be able to send you a selection of candidates all at once for you to
compare.
What happens if it doesn’t work out at the end of the scheme?
If at the end of the work experience the candidate is not right for your organisation or your situation has changed you are in no way tied into a contract where you have to employ the individual. Obviously the whole point of the scheme is for them to end up in employment but equally they are entitled to leave the work experience should they find a job at any point. Moreover they will end with relevant work experience on their CV, a good reference and being far more employable than before they started with you.
Why are these graduates unemployed?
It is a fallacy that most graduates get graduate jobs when they leave university. The vast majority, around 65%, have not
entered graduate employment 12 months after leaving university. Most lack career direction, labour market knowledge
and an understanding of how to present themselves to employers. There may be other issues such as dyslexia or
disability but by far the biggest obstacle is lack of relevant experience. We go to great lengths to assess candidates
and whilst constantly respecting client confidentiality we will do whatever we can to help you identify strengths and
weaknesses.
