Welcome to the Flexible New Deal Graduate Routeway Option with Employer Engagement.
Our scheme has been designed for graduates, who completed their degree a few months ago as well as for those who graduated decades ago and who may even have quite a lot of experience. We also help people who do not have a degree but who are felt to be “high-flyers” by the New Deal Personal Advisors. By finding you relevant work experience and supporting you with job search we aim to get you into work as soon as possible. Here’s what you can expect from us.
How does the process work?
- You are identified as a suitable candidate for our provision and referred to us
- A member of the team will then telephone you to welcome you to the scheme and to have a discussion about your background and the barriers you may be facing to employment
- They will arrange a face to face meeting with you and email you sections of our Manual packed full of useful tips and techniques on job search techniques
- At this meeting the mentor will help you to create a work focused Action Plan to help you overcome the identified barriers
- The scheme will then start with an interactive Interview Training Day which will cover the key elements of job search skills including:
- Self analysis and presenting yourself in a positive format
- Motivational issues – parts theory
- Working out where we are going in life
- Doing proper market research
- Approaches to a CV
- Routes to interview and the hidden job market
- How to network
- Linked in
- What employers expect
- How to recruit someone
- Interview techniques – How example method
- Practice interviews
- We will then meet with you for fortnightly seminars to review your progress and to get and to get you ready for a work experience placement. Sessions include:
- Using the “How Example” method to deconstruct competencies
- Preparing for an interview
- 80% rule
- Positive presentation
- CV critique
- Market research
- Motivation
- Application forms
- Managing situations at work
- Making yourself indispensible
- Understanding your organisations objectives
- Researching organisations
- Understanding career direction
- Using Linked In
- Networking – tips and techniques
- When you feel confident about presenting your skills to an employer we will invite you for interview with a number of pre-selected work placements suitable to your career direction
- We will then manage your placement with them to ensure your objectives are met and that it is increasing your chances of finding employment
- We will also continue to support you and help keep your motivation high by regular job search seminars and individual mentoring. The additional learning points will be:
